Metalock Brasil carried out a specialized cold structural repair and machining service on turbine housings and a radiator tank, components used in railway locomotives operating in freight transportation and multimodal logistics operations. The work was performed entirely at the company’s workshop in Santos, São Paulo.

The service aimed at the structural recovery of the components following the identification of cracks and wear in critical regions of the housings and radiator tank. For complete diagnosis of the discontinuities, Metalock Brasil’s technical team performed non-destructive liquid penetrant (LP) testing, allowing precise mapping of the affected areas before the start of the interventions.

The structural recovery was carried out using the Metalock® cold repair process, a technique applied to restore component integrity without the introduction of heat, preventing thermal stresses and material distortion. The same procedure was used on both the turbine housings and the radiator tank. After completion of the repairs, additional liquid penetrant tests were performed to validate the structural integrity of the restored components.

In addition to the structural repair, the service included precision machining operations on the face of the turbine housings, with controlled material removal to restore the component’s geometric conditions. New openings and restoration of threaded holes were also carried out on the housings and radiator tank, ensuring the dimensional and functional adequacy of the components.

After completion of the services, the components underwent final inspection, were properly protected, and prepared for delivery in accordance with the client’s specifications.

With a well-established presence in the Industrial, Marine and Offshore sectors, Metalock Brasil is a recognized reference in precision structural repairs, on-site machining, and in-situ engineering solutions, delivering technical alternatives that extend component service life, reduce replacement costs, and contribute to the operational reliability of large-scale equipment.
