Metalock Brasil renews Lloyd’s Register certification for metal stitching repairs

January 2021
Lloyd’s Register

Metalock Brasil has successfully renewed its Lloyd’s Register approval certificate for carrying out structural repairs by metal stitching using the Metalock® cold process, a method widely recognized worldwide for the recovery of cast iron and cast steel components.

The new certificate, valid until August 2028, reinforces international confidence in Metalock Brasil’s technical expertise and attests to full compliance with the stringent requirements of Lloyd’s Register Rules and Regulations.

What is metal stitching?

Metal stitching, also known as Metalock® cold repair, is a technology that allows the recovery of large components without the need for welding. The process ensures the restoration of structural integrity of critical parts, preventing thermal distortion and significantly reducing maintenance costs and downtime.

It is an ideal solution for both emergency and permanent repairs on engines, blocks, casings, structures and other components of ships and industrial plants.

Quality and reliability assurance

Repairs carried out using the Metalock® process may involve prior communication and approval with Lloyd’s Register, including inspector oversight and the issuance of specific procedures. This supervision ensures that the intervention is aligned with international technical and safety requirements.

Global commitment

For Metalock Brasil, the renewal of this certification represents more than just a technical endorsement: it is proof of its ongoing commitment to innovation, safety, and excellence in structural repairs, positioning the company among the leading service providers in the Marine, Offshore and Industrial sectors.
