Metalock Brasil recently carried out a specialized TIG welding service on a spool manufactured in AISI 316 stainless steel, intended for an industrial application within the engineering and technical solutions sector.

The work aimed at installing a ¾” NPT internally threaded coupling on the spool body, ensuring that the component met the operational requirements of the system to which it is integrated. The intervention was conducted in accordance with specific technical procedures, ensuring quality, mechanical strength and overall reliability of the assembly.

The scope of the service included central drilling of the spool to allow insertion of the coupling, surface preparation through abrasive cleaning, as well as the manufacture of the coupling in 316 stainless steel, equipped with a plug and a ¾” NPT internal thread. Subsequently, the TIG welding procedure was performed, strictly following the applicable welding procedure for the material and the application.

After completion of the welding, non-destructive liquid penetrant (LP) testing was carried out to verify the integrity of the welded joint and ensure compliance with the established technical requirements.

The service was inspected and approved by the client’s on-site technical representatives, confirming the quality of the work performed and releasing the component for use.
