Metalock Brasil has successfully completed a grinding service on two calender rollers, carried out for a company in the coatings industry in São Paulo. The goal of the work was to restore the ideal roughness and leveling conditions of the rollers used in the production process, ensuring superior surface quality and operational performance.

The scope included grinding of two chrome-coated rollers with hardness between 54 and 57 HRC, aiming to achieve a final roughness of 0.8 Ra, within the tolerance range of 0.8 to 3.2 Ra and leveling tolerance of 0.05 mm/m. To ensure dimensional accuracy, a grinding machine with a 2-meter linear guide was used.

During the process, the team performed specific adjustments, including reassembly and alignment of the upper roll to correct a localized blemish. Additionally, a technical adaptation was required, replacing the original grinding stone with a portable machine, which delivered the desired final finish.

After completion, the rollers were inspected and approved by the plant’s maintenance management, confirming full compliance with the established technical specifications.
