Metalock Brasil successfully completed a full overhaul of a bow tunnel thruster in an operation that involved complete disassembly of the equipment, maintenance at a specialized workshop and reinstallation on board a vessel anchored in Guanabara Bay (RJ).

The intervention, carried out between February 22 and March 3, 2025, required vessel deballasting and trim adjustments, as well as the use of a floating crane and support barge for the removal and reinstallation of the unit. The system was transported to the workshop, where it underwent complete disassembly, replacement of seals and blade sealing systems, polishing of the propeller blades, final assembly, pitch adjustment and functional testing under pressure.

After shore-based maintenance, the equipment was returned to the vessel’s hull for reassembly, followed by leak testing and final pitch adjustments. The operation also included the welding of auxiliary structures to the hull, dye penetrant inspections, containment of oily waste and delicate lifting maneuvers carried out with full technical and environmental control.

The successful completion of this service reinforces Metalock Brasil’s expertise in complex interventions on naval propulsion systems, ensuring reliability, safety and performance in accordance with the highest standards of the maritime industry.
